CutieCooties was created by two craft loving sisters, Lauren and Brianne Liss, natives of Chicago, IL, eaters of avocados, and watchers of Law & Order.
CutieCooties began with tackling the art of knitting. With that came everything from scarves to hats to socks to wristbands, and even an iPod cozy. The love of crafting developed and began to take on a life all its own. Ideas sprung up from everywhere. A cute purse at an expensive vintage store (Oh, I could make that, but way better…) or a necklace at a boutique (That is a good idea, but I would do it this way…) would result in piles and piles of goods. Suddenly, the sisters realized they needed a whole room (even two) to fit all their plush toys, accessories, and supplies.
After brainstorming on what to do with all their talent and goods (ie. recreating the Battle of Little Big Horn using Cooties, making enough purses to have a new one for every day, or building the Eiffel Tower out of coasters), the girls decided the best thing for them to do was to create a website to house all their original and handmade goods and make them available for purchase by the public. And it was done.
